We’re not talking about deer and turkey here. Last week a mayor in Houston Texas called for pastors to submit their sermons and speeches so they can be checked for any “discriminatory language” against sodomites. Yesterday the story about the couple of ministers in Idaho who offer their services to perform Christian marriage ceremonies in their privately-owned chapel, are threatened with arrest, fines and jail time if they refuse to perform gay so-called “marriages” as well. Left and right we increasingly hear of these ridiculous charges being brought, and now that the Supreme Court has far exceeded the parameters of the Constitutional limitations of their duties and powers, and stolen the role of legislation away from the states as well as Congress, and struck down the express will of the voters by overturning the bans on so-called gay “marriage” in several states, it truly does appear to be open season on Bible-believing Christians everywhere in the United States. But we are only just beginning to “catch up” with Canada and the U.K on this score.
The following is an excerpt from a Telegraph article from July of last year, (video included at link) that is chilling in it’s implications:
He was speaking from a passage from Thessalonians which mentions “sexual immorality” and listed homosexuality alongside “fornication” as examples what he believed went against “God’s law”.
A woman out shopping called the police to complain that she was offended, prompting two officers to be dispatched to arrest him.
That’s right. Someone was offended, and therefore the police were dispatched to arrest this street preacher. When questioning ensued, the preacher stated that he realized it was not about his actions, but his positions. He had not broken any law. The police were taking action against him based solely on the beliefs that he holds.
You may recall the case in California wherein a Christian reading from the Bible outside the DMV was arrested in 2011 and put on trial a year later. The court upheld the Christian’s right of free speech in a public setting, but the Christian attorney was reported to have said the case resembled childhood memories growing up in Communist Romania. His family left Romania for America in order to enjoy religious freedom, but he sees it slipping away while many refuse to even fight for it.
Yesterday I re-blogged a post by Pastor Clint Lewey about taking a biblical stand that Homosexuality is still a sin, and the fact that my own Mother-in-Law informed us this past weekend of a lesbian family member’s intent to return to VA now that gay so-called “marriage” is now legal here, so she can “marry” her girlfriend. That’s one family occasion our family does not intend to help celebrate. My husband will be happy so see his niece, but folks, this is that time the Bible was talking about when Jesus said Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (Matthew chapter 10).
As I said in my comments to Pastor Lewey, to “support” this is to deny Christ, because it is to deny His Word and they (Christ and the Word) are one and the same. I remember as a child in the seventies, a Sunday School teacher who warned that a day could come in this nation where someone with a gun might some day walk into a church such as ours, and give us the ultimatum to deny Christ or die. He too spoke of Romania and communist Russia and the preciousness of the freedom we have to worship here.
This is not a battle with “flesh and blood”. There are demonic spirits that have gained a stronghold here. Are you going to be afraid of offending gays or are you going to rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell?
There are and have been countless calls for “national prayer and repentance” but you know what? I think it is personal prayer and repentance God is after. What has “possessed” this nation just may be the “kind that goeth not out but by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21). A general lack of repentance has rendered too many as “salt which has lost it’s savor” and therefore it’s preservative quality.
It is no longer a question of reclaiming and restoring. There is much that is forever squandered. But we have to strengthen what remains. We are that last days church of Revelation 3:8. who has kept His word and not denied HIs name. But why is that last days church weak? Maybe from the battering of this old world? Maybe from witnessing the falling-away? Maybe from the battle to continue to “occupy” against a growing resistance to, and hatred of all things holy? HIs strength is made perfect in our weakness, and when we are weak, He is strong. (2 Corinthians 12: 9,10).
If your mind is not made up, if you have not made “sure” your salvation is anchored in the solid rock of Jesus’ blood-bought redemption, wherefore let he that thinketh he standeth, take heed, lest he fall!(1 Corinthians 10:12).
You may find yourself pressed to take a stand, and it’s hunting season. Are you ready?
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.-Jesus Christ
