“Message from the family: We are humbled and forever grateful for your prayer support, and anything else is an amazing blessing!”–June
Would you consider helping this brother and sister in Christ and their family whose home took a direct hit from Hurricane Irma at Cat 4 intensity?
My friends June and Mark, June’s mother (Jackie), as well as daughter ( also named Jackie after grandma), son-in-law (Stephen, former Marine), and two grandsons aged 4 and 6, (plus their three dogs) have returned to their property, and their home is badly damaged, roof collapsed, through upper floor and into the living room downstairs, and the trailer (mom’s home) has now been declared a total loss by FEMA. They are sleeping on mattresses in the portion that is somewhat intact as a shelter, have water and got electricity yesterday. The extended family ran a photography business out of their home, specialty fine-art photos on aluminum and custom frames. This is the livelihood of the entire family. They evacuated with only a few smaller pieces of their equipment with, but most of the large equipment for the process, has been destroyed. There are many average hardworking two-income (or more) families who live in the Keys, cost of living is quite high, many live paycheck-to-paycheck. In this case there are 4 generations plus 3 dogs who depend on a paycheck that isn’t going to be there for who knows how many weeks to come. Please consider helping this hard-working close-knit family.
If you are like me, you’d rather help someone directly, than give to a large entity that will take a cut. The donate button will send your donation to the Paypal account designated to non-profit and then I will transfer it directly to the family.
There are three ways that you can help.
- Use the donate button, to simply donate. Any amount will be appreciated.
- You may also donate suggested amounts for specific up-cycled vintage jewelry and my hand-crafted jewelry, or original artwork items which I am donating for this cause. The suggested donation amounts reflect an “at or below cost” dollar figure plus postage and packaging cost. Whatever amount you choose to donate, minus the cost of getting your item to you, will go to help this family get back on their feet.
So help someone in need, and maybe knock out some of your Christmas shopping at the same time! Each day I will feature one Item of the Day, and several “upcoming offer” items.
- Most important of all, pray for all of those in Florida affected by Hurricane Irma, as well as those who are working hard to help them.
Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Silver Tone Dangle fish hook earrings with tiny tassels. Shades of Blue and Teal, with Borealis Crystal accent beads. Suggested donation $8.00, includes shipping.
This whimsical and colorful tree is made up of various colors of twisted wire, large acrylic gemstones in Fuchsia, orange, green and blue, with a sweet little bird nest in which nestles a pretty Czech glass faceted white opal. The base is a sturdy and weighty old lamp base. The gems dangle on chains of various colors. The wires are multiple colors, including copper. Topped off by a happy little yellow bird, this tree stands approximately 15″ high, and about a foot wide. This is one of the largest ones I’ve made. I love these, and made 4 that I kept, and a handful more for other people, and they have been a big hit! Suggested donation for this item $25.00 which includes shipping.
This folk art painting is entitled “All the Cousins out at Grandma’s” is 8″x 10″ canvas board and done with acrylics. Signed by the artist (me) this painting hearkens back to childhood days with cousins by the creek. There are all sorts of things to see, from a distant setting sun, and children of different ages, from bored teenage girl, playing with her hair, to a little fella fishing, and one who just got here running from the house, climbing over the fence to join the others. Crops and hills, Weeping Cherry tree, and Crepe Myrtle , a meandering country road runs through the rolling hillside, leaving you wondering what other lovely vistas are around that bend. Makes you want to take off your shoes, roll up your jeans, feel the summer grass beneath your feet, and maybe dip a toe in and see how cold the water is. There is some glare in the center of the photo that washes it out a little at the road there, but that’s only the camera flash. It is only in the photo and not there in the painting itself. Suggested donation for this item, $22.00 which also covers shipping.
