Trick or Treat? Let the Eating Season Begin!

TOO MUCH FOOD!

In America we’re fortunate, we have such blessings
We take for granted the turkey and dressing.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks–
As a people we seem self-discipline to lack.

Country, Chinese, Mexican food; all of it’s tempting, all of it’s great.
Why must we worry if we’re apt to gain weight?
Tasty Italian, good Irish stew,
Scandinavian chocolates, and Mom’s meatloaf, too…

Japanese Aussie–exciting to try–
Our yearnings’ unending, difficult to satisfy.
The sad truth’s inevitable; we’ll just get fatter
If we eat everything that’s put on the  platter.

Hunger’s not really the reason we seek;
Sometimes we keep munching. Sometime’s we’re only weak.
Why can’t we be thankful for the  sustenance we get?
Our ‘wants’ count for little; our ‘needs’ will be met.
