It is the goal of the Hegelian dialectic to disdain and marginalize any objection to the thing one wishes for the targeted group to ultimately embrace.  To paint a word picture, this is exactly what VP Biden was practicing when he threw his head back and laughed at everything Ryan said in their debate before the elections.  If you can make the other person look foolish, in the mind of the listener, then the listener will reject that person’s premise on the emotional level, out of a desire not to be laughed at himself.
