One Day Soon
~ S.T. Lloyd
The sun rises, and morning light filters in through drawn blinds.
One more day, one more.
Waiting is never easy.
I can close my eyes and I can remember
Dreams I had,
of HIs presence upon the mountains
calling my name.
Oh the joy of knowing that He sought me out.
So beloved was I, that He delighted
in sitting with me in the cool of the evening
and hearing the thoughts of my heart.
Dreams, troubled, fill the nights now.
But I have not forgotten.
That place of holiness in HIs presence
So pure and so amazing
That He should deign to draw one such as me, to Him!
O how this life can strip away the childlike joys.
How the residue of this sin-cursed painful world
Can build up upon our spirits,
a sludge that threatens to seep in and poison
the heart.
So necessary the daily washing in the fountain of
His Words, His blessing and guidance
To remind us who we are in Him
Redeemed and knowing
that what His blood washed away is accounted no more.
Moment by moment we must choose to be
in the light of HIs shining presence
that we will avoid straying from the safety of The Way
For an enemy awaits that moment when our footfall lands
outside of those bounds.
Eager, ravenous, and vicious, he stalks to and fro.
Even as angel sentinals stand their ground.
Our eyes cannot detect their presence.
Our ears may not hear the clash of swords
Clad in armor we go.
He will see us through,
each vale of tears,
each craggy peak and each river-crossing
until we cross that final river
and arrive safely on that other shore
Or ’til that midnight hour when
the trump sound blasts
and a voice like many waters
speaks “come up here”.
Oh the glory and wonder
Of that day!
We await our bridegroom
Hearts swelling, aflutter, overwhelmed with gratitude
And indescribable joy of anticipation! The delight
Of our heart and of His, will be fulfilled!
One day soon!
One day soon!
