I don’t know about you, but as far as the “economic collapse” of 2008, I wasn’t aware of it at the time.  Do you know why?  People who didn’t have boatloads of wealth and investments, who lived paycheck to paycheck or with a small cushion of savings, didn’t feel any difference, because they live that way all the time.

Now, I’m not comparing the current global instability to that of ’08.  The economy throughout the world is even more intertwined than ever, and the economy across the entire globe, is very unstable right now.

I have learned some things while keeping this blog.  There is a lot of sensationalism in the Prophecy/End Times sector, just like anything else, because that is the stuff that draws readers and subscribers.  After a while, you begin to recognize the hype for what it is.  This blog is not here to titillate. There are Christians secure in their faith who are interested in watching the clock tick down, and there are unsaved, un-churched people who are trying to make their own sense out of all that is happening in the world.  This blog is here for those folks.

Back when “prepping” just started getting practically mainstream, we considered the wisdom of it.  The truth is, for the many folks who pretty much get by month to month, there simply is not a lot that can be done to put things by for some indeterminate period of possible catastrophic conditions.  We took the reasonable approach of prepping to the degree everyone ought to do, as far as the contingency of being without power for a week or so, getting savvy about self-defense and home-defense.  Spare things like extra medications, that sort of thing.

The thing that puzzles me are those who literally are prepping for some vague apocalyptic type scenario.  If you are a Christian, and one who doesn’t believe in the pre-trib rapture, or any rapture, I am quite puzzled how some expect to “prep” for seven years of what the Bible says is coming.

As for those who do believe in the rapture, pre-trib, mid-trib, what have you, I think that some folks do feel convicted to do some “prepping”, but I think that possibly, that compunction given by the Holy Spirit to some, could just be part of His plan for providing for those in the tribulation who will eventually come to saving faith, through the witness of the Angel, the 144,000, or the two Witnesses of Revelation.

Economists are puzzled that the economy still holds together even now.

I do not believe a total, global financial collapse is going to take place until the tribulation.  Clearly there will be more and more “lean times” until then.  From week to week, haven’t we watched the containers and packages we regularly buy, shrink in size, while doubling in price?

Most stores don’t bother even pulling the old stuff off the shelf.  I have frequently snagged the last of the old size/better quality version of stuff I regularly buy, when the clerks just put the newer smaller ones right on the shelf in front of the old ones.  The ones at the back are bigger, and cost less.  The packages are identical in everything except the slightly smaller scale.  Other tricks include making the indented hollow bottoms of jars and bottles, more indented, giving the appearance of the same volume, but containing significantly less product.

And please, watering down the soap and detergent, doesn’t fool anyone.  This is how it is, but Americans, many of us, have become so accustomed to excess.  There are many who could have their lifestyle scaled back quite a bit, and would still be quite rich by the standards of most of the population on Earth.  Even while we bemoan what we are losing in America, we enjoy fruits of the faithful who came before us.  I can’t help but be thankful. Even though I stay pretty aware and informed, as to the evil and corruption, the moral decay and the injustices. We live in this world, but it’s just a temporary stay. Trouble, sickness, crime, and even atrocity, are a part of this life. But faith in Father God carries the believer through.

Everyone knows this world is at a critical point. While the rich are buying up land in remote locations, and kitting out their bunkers, and doing whatever it is the rich do to preserve assets, the devil is laughing. When the tribulation begins, I  suspect most won’t know anything is amiss. Most will be convinced, in fact, that mankind finally got their collective act together.  By the halfway point, though, many more will know better, while many, particularly the elites, will remain utterly delusional.  Like Barack Obama is right now already. Even when circumstances are such that no one in their right mind would even try to deny the very God of Heaven is pouring out His wrath, there will be those who remain steadfast in their defiance and rebellion and pride, with stones for hearts, they will go to their eternal death.

For pride, for perishable riches, for love of money and for hatred of truth.

Have you been fooled? Fallen for the lie that there is “your truth, and then there is “my truth”.  Feelings, wishes, and preferences, are not the determiners of truth. Truth. Simply. Is. As God simply is. Your belief, or lack thereof, cannot alter this.  God is.

We all will face Him.  There will be no more unbelief then.  All will be judged. Are you ready? That’s the prepping you need to see to.
