An open letter to readers of Serve_Him_in_the_Waiting

Different folks land on this blog by various avenues.  Sometimes it may seem inadvertent, and yet I believe that God directs every person who clicks a link that leads them here.  I believe that He has a purpose in this, and I do believe in a God who is that personal.  He sought me out when I was ignorant of Him, and in fact that is something that sets Him apart from your “average gods”.  The God of Abraham, makes house calls.  He pursues us.

And He is right there for us when we seek Him.  In our pilgrimage through this life, we encounter many different types of terrain.  We sometimes enjoy a lush, green shady stretch where the going is fairly pleasant and easy, but most often there is some challenge or other that we face in our going.

There are a lot of blogs on this vast internet, and all sorts of other topics to be dwelt upon.  This temporal world even in it’s fallen state, has so much to marvel at and to enjoy.  There are some readers who will only scratch their heads at this and probably not read it all.  That’s not who I am speaking to.

As a blogger, I introduced myself in the early months of this blog, and beyond that, eventually came to the more “background” place that I stick to these days, with only occasional “on a personal note” posts. It is a funny place, the “network” on which we interact, you and I. In some cases, I know you that are reading, personally, and in other cases, I’ve “met” you only in this virtual world, and still others probably feel a little like they know me, and yet I might not be acquainted with you, or ever have exchanged a personal interaction or two-way communication.

It’s been snowy here for over a week, but not repeated storms, just the ugly muddy stuff half-melting and hanging around. Winter, especially February, is a hard month for me.  I look forward to spring, and since my blog focuses on the run-up to the end of this age of ‘Grace, it can seem mostly to spotlight negative, troubling news, which if we are not careful, could slurp all the joy out of our spirits.  That is why you will notice a sort of a feast-or-famine pattern to the postings here at times.  I can’t afford to become joyless, and neither can you.

When something is happening in the news that is widely reported on all the blogs (of similar subject matter), that is the item I am most likely to forego carrying here.  Simply because the likelihood that readers have seen or will see it elsewhere, is pretty high.  There are some times when the significant happenings seem to bubble up in a gush, and I’ll shoot out a flurry of posts and reblogs.  I have always viewed the major purpose of this blog as being a “source of sources”, that is, a means of letting people know not just what (of prophetic significance) is happening, but where else to look for those important stories.

I never would have imagined back three years ago when it started, that some three thousand posts later, this blog would be inching into the territory nearing a quarter of a million hits. My departure from Facebook cut into that some, but I haven’t looked back.

If you are weary, and beginning to feel anxious over the state this world is in, and particularly concerned about America, God has not delayed, He isn’t distracted, and He also understands that these are frightful times.  His invitation is to rest in Him.  Talk it all over with Him. Set aside everything else for a little bit, and check your connection.  Just like any relationship, the busyness of life can cause us to neglect the very things that nourish us. And to withhold the encouragement someone else needs.  Sometimes we forget that in fellowship there is a two-way flow, a mutual exchange.  I can avoid others when I feel empty and parched, and miss out on the refreshment that can come so unexpectedly from surprising vessels chosen by God to deliver them based on His own intimate knowledge of what we need before we even realize we need it.

Some days it does seem that trumpet of Gabriel’s is long overdue, but we know why that is necessary, and pre-written history tells us that very condition is a sign. Few will be expecting Him, few will be watching. Like the disciples in Gethsemane, it is so easy to grow sleepy, as the darkness surrounds us, and a hope deferred makes a heart sick.  But that bright and morning star is going to rise!

I thought some of you might need to hear that right about now.  It’s been a long night already and it isn’t over yet. But the “big day” for the Bride of Christ will come!

There remaineth a rest for the people of God, Hebrews 4:9

There remaineth a rest, a rest
For the people of God
A promise, a finished work
And we must guard it with our hearts
Everything you will ever need
Was provided at Calvary

There remaineth a rest, there is a rest
There remaineth a rest, there is a rest
A Rest, the finished work of the Lord

There remaineth a rest, a rest
For the people of God
A promise, a finished work
And we must guard it with our hearts
Everything you will ever need
Was provided at Calvary

There remaineth a rest, there is a rest
There remaineth a rest, there is a rest
A Rest, the finished work of the Lord
Cursed is any man that hangeth on a tree
Jesus Christ took on this curse
Just for you and me
A curse is defined as poverty
Sickness and death
When Jesus said it is finished
He blessed us with his rest
There is a rest

There remaineth a rest, There is a rest
There remaineth a rest, There is a rest
A Rest, the finished work of the Lord

Now that you know that it’s finished
Come on by faith lets go in it
Now that you know that it’s finished
Come on by faith lets go in it, go in it, go in it
Now that you know that it’s finished
Come on by faith lets go in it
Now that you know that it’s finished
Come on by faith lets go in it

There remaineth a rest, There is a rest
There remaineth a rest, There is a rest
A Rest….
A Finished Work of the Lord (around)

  2. At times I think I am the only one feeling these things. I love the Lord, but lately I’ve been feeling discouraged with sooooo much happening around the world and in my midst. It seems as if Satan is gearing up for his “big play” as the end draws near, and even the faithful are feeling faint @ heart. It must be natural to feel weaker as the end approaches. As the old saying goes, “It’s dark before the dawn”.
I pray for renewal of spiritual strength and resurgence of energy as stated by the Lord on Isaiah 40:28-31. Thank You Lord for never getting tired and weary and for your promised daily mercies, steadfast love and sufficient grace until the sound of the trump…1Cor.15:52

    • Thank you Francelia, for your kind words. I am humbled anytime that I hear from readers who are encouraged because that encourages and blesses me. I try to let the Lord lead as to when, what, how, and even “if” I blog on any given day and any particular topic. I agree, it seems that the saints are tired, and not that we can let up, but I do think God understands that weariness. God bless you, and I am looking forward to meeting all of the family when we all get up there, that I haven’t met here. I know that sometimes it seems like the wait just keeeeeps streeeetching,on, but one day soon……gonna hear that shout and that trumpet and everything is going to change for us in an instant. Whooeee! There isn’t a whole lot that gets me excited but when I think about that, I just get so happy and so peaceful!
