When I started this blog, I had only tried blogging briefly once before. I had no idea how to best utilize the categories and tags that help people find specific content on the blog, but also help with search engine optimization. (Not that I know much more now). As a result, I think I had about seven thousand tags. LOL Many of them used only once. And then some of the tags weren’t used at all, which makes no sense, except when I added a tag to a re-blog and then original blogger discontinued the post or their blog. The post would disappear, but the tags didn’t. Also, my fingers are kind of dyslexic, and I can see a word correctly in my mind, but my fingers will crossed up the order of the letters, so some of them were misspellings.
So, yeah, that’s what I was up to yesterday. An intensive “Tag Intervention”. I am going to go out on a limb and say that is probably a record of some sort, seven thousand tags. We’re talking three hundred pages of tags, displaying 22 per page. LOL. Now it’s under 300 tags, and only fifteen pages. If only I could get rid of pounds that easily! After I got all of that under control, I now am going through all (nearly 4000) posts again, using the quick-edit feature, to re-tag some items. But I’m trying to toss out some news in between as well.
Hopefully, now that I’ve streamlined my Categories some of you who have just been following in the past year or two, might enjoy browsing by category or tag. (In right sidebar you’ll find the word “Categories”, and when you click on it, you’ll get the drop-down menu). I narrowed that down to about eight. I don’t know how many of those I had before, but all I can say is, “thank goodness for WordPress’ category-to-tag converter! (Tags are in a “cloud” lower down.) I think we all could use the devotional and praise stuff, and the humor interspersed as the intensity level keeps rising.
There is actually quite a lot of my own original writing sprinkled around the blog, so getting the organization cleaned up some also makes sense adding more varied content.
Pray for me? I’m pretty cross-eyed just now.
That reminds me of the funny story about the time the preacher asked a little boy to name some of his favorite hymns, and he said he couldn’t remember the names, but he liked the one about Gladly the constipated cross-eyed bear. (listen close at the 44 second mark)
Ok, now I’m in a musical mood! Isn’t music a blessing?
Here’s a really good version of it, that segues right into Amazing Grace. I guess it’ the same tune.
