This is a replay of a 2014 post, but a good refresher!
The ongoing conflict between Israel and “Palestine” dates back 4000 years to birth of Jacob (Israel) and Esau (Edom) to Isaac and Rebecca. (See Genesis 25) If you recall, Rebecca was barren. But Isaac entreated God for her sake, and God heard Isaac’s prayer and enabled Rebecca to conceive twins. The scripture said that the two children battled one another even in her womb (verse 22). When Rebecca asked the Lord why this was so, this is what God said:
And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. (v 23).
Esau was birthed first, and when Jacob came out, he grabbed hold of Esau’s heel, (as if to subdue him).
Speaking through the prophet Malachi, the Lord declares in no uncertain terms, the designation and ultimate end of Esau (Edom/Palestine) in the book of Malachi, chapter 1, and it does not end well for the nation that descended from Esau.
In Genesis 36 we find that Esau took his family and settled in Southern Jordan at mount Sier. He had a grandson named Amalek, leader of Amalekites (Ex 17). In 1Samuel chapter 15, the prophet Samuel told Saul, King over Israel, that the nation of Israel were to completely destroy the Amalekites, but they didn’t obey this direct order. Amalek later had grandson Haman (read his story in the book of Esther, beginning with chapter 3) who plotted to kill all of the Jews. Haman had a great-great grandson named Herod the Great, and we all know that Herod (Matthew 2) had all male children in Israel of the age of two and under, killed in an effort to kill Jesus Himself!
Today’s Palestinians are the descendants of Esau, and hating the Jews is their legacy. When they weren’t fighting Israel directly, they were often aiding some other nation who was fighting Israel. God promised in Genesis 12:3 to bless those who bless Israel and curse those that curse her. Esau’s descendant’s brought this curse upon themselves, even as America risks bringing these same curses upon herself to the degree that President Obama supports the Muslim Brotherhood and John Kerry strives to impose conditions which make Israel even more vulnerable to her enemies.
Hamas, the political Sunni Islamic organization founded in the late 1980’s, is a “working arm” of Iran in the immediate vicinity of Israel, and an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Benjamin Netanyahu knows that no peace process can be successfully settled until Hamas is completely put down.
Hamas founder “prophesied that “Israel will be gone by 2022“, and this assertion was reiterated last week by Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hamad. This is not a Biblical prophecy, therefore it is not legitimate, yet these followers of Islam believe it, and have made their plans accordingly.
Ezekiel 35 tells us that these Edomites will be given the power and take the Jew’s land, but their centuries-long “reign of terror” will finally come to an end with the return of Jesus Christ when these descendants of Esau, the Edomites now known as the Palestinians, will be utterly destroyed.
In Zechariah 12 we are told that, before Palestine is destroyed at the return of Christ, Jerusalem will be made a cup of trembling. Judah and Jerusalem will be besieged and all of the peoples (nations) of the Earth will be gathered against them. This is a prophecy yet future, but most Bible scholars agree this is a battle that we see the conditions shaping up for in real time right now this moment in history. God will step in on behalf of His beloved nation and Israel will be restored in Grace. See in verses 10 and 11 for what happens as the Jewish people turn back to their God and finally recognize their Messiah!
