Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase

In case you hadn’t noticed, I spend a good bit of time thinking about the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is my favorite thing to think about.  Every bride anticipates her wedding day.  We have been focused for some time now on Israel, Syria, the Muslim Brotherhood, all that is happening in the Middle East and shifting alliances in that region, while also having our minds blown on just about a daily basis, at what is happening right here in the United States under Barack Obama.  As Christians we are free to live right up to the moment Jesus catches us away from here.  Though things look troubling and bleak, we are not subject to God’s wrath.  We can watch these things with great interest, fascination, but with peace.

Even though we continue to watch, and there are no other signs or events that must take place before we leave here, we also know that we might be in for a bit more of a wait.  Consider this: Other times in our world’s fairly recent history, people have thought surely we were nearing the end based on things happening, only for things to settle down and become relatively calm once again, be it war or economy.  However, each time that happens, we can know one thing for certain, “that day” can only be closer now, the longer it has been awaited.  It is logical to be watchful because that is what our Lord told us to do.  We know the indicators: increase in earthquakes in diverse places, wars, rumors of war, men being lovers of themselves, truce-breakers, haughty, high-minded, lacking self control, their love for one another having grown cold.  Men with men, working that which is unseemly, women abandoning their natural use for the man, and instead lusting after other women.

But what about the increase in knowledge and travel (running to and fro about the Earth)?

Some might argue that in the 2 hundred years we went from horse and buggy, to rail, to flight, high-speed rail, space travel, word processors to computers, cell phones, smart phones, GPS….etc, that we have already met that criteria.  Well, just like it may have looked at one time like Hitler was the antichrist because he was the nearest thing the world had at that time ever seen, I have to wonder with what is “in the works” if we have yet to actually meet that criteria God was speaking of in regards to running to and fro and knowledge increasing.

You have read articles at one time or another I’ve posted on here about “the Singularity“, and about the intent of men to become immortal by way of scientific advances, a.k.a. “Transhumanism”  ( H+  which is the ultimate step of man taking charge of his own evolution, brought about by mankind himself), the super-soldiers and all of that.  And I also posted about the 3D printer, which is able to reproduce a three-dimensional object just as easily as you would make a 2D copy of your drivers license on a “Xerox” machine.   (See HERE)

But there is an area of scientific and technological research that goes well beyond the 3 Dimensional printer, and it’s called Molecular Manufacturing.  Just the term is evocative of the merging of biology with technology.  Just as the industrial revolution changed the world, this revolution will too, only exponentially more, and exponentially faster.

Molecular manufacturing (MM) refers to a process that builds complicated machines out of precisely designed molecules.

Once molecular manufacturing is developed, it will provide us with a thorough and inexpensive system for controlling the structure of matter. In a relatively short time period following the development of the first nanofactory, mankind will appear to have complete dominion over the physical universe.  (Source)

Molecular manufacturing is an emerging technology that is being developed to build large objects to atomic precision, quickly and cheaply, with virtually no defects. When it matures, it promises to be an energy efficient and environmentally benign way to make textiles and textile products. (Source)

For one example, this technology applied in the textile industry would allow for

Lightweight nanotube fibers stronger than steel
Fabrics able to sense temperature and control their breathability
Clothing able to sense injury and provided immediate delivery of  medication to a wounded soldier.

• A garment could programmably increase or decrease its own size as needed
• A fabric could change its own color and patterns on demand
• The breathability of a textile could be variable and self-regulating
• By integrating molecular robotic components into the material, a fabric could be made to be self-cleaning and self-repairing
• A fabric could be programmed to move on its own accord, creating effects such as a flag flapping even without a breeze
• Molecular fasteners could create new clothing design options for truly
seamless garments (Source)

Other applications:

• powerful desktop computers with a billion processors
• abundant energy with inexpensive, efficient solar energy systems
• cures for serious diseases using nanorobots smaller than cells
• new materials 100 times stronger than steel
• a clean environment with nanomachines to scavenge pollutants
• more molecular manufacturing systems (they could build copies of themselves) (Source)

Advances in this field are being made every day.  You have probably heard about the pill that can alert your doctor if you forgot to take it.  The mini-camera pill that gives the doctor a film of your colon without the embarrassment and discomfort of a colonoscopy.   Read about 5 recent advances in Molecular Nanotechnology HERE. And see some amazing photos, including a bionic exoskeleton that allows a quadraplegic to walk HERE

The Singularity represents the time at which these technological advances become so rapid that it exceeds the human’s ability to comprehend or predict them.  After all, if the nanofactory learns how to replicate itself, how soon will the second generation nanofactory far-exceed the capabilities of the first generation?  I know this is all very “I-Robot” but apparently we are on the very cusp of this revolution.

As biology and technology merge, and these applications are adapted to replace human “parts”, the ultimate goal becomes the obsolescence of “flesh” wherein our “being” interfaces with a computerized/mechanized/perfected body, literally an upload of consciousness thereby transcending our “humanity”, (Trans-Humanism) This article HERE makes the point that in the Olivet Discourse Jesus stated “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be”.  The author Britt Gilette, further points out that “no flesh will be saved” isn’t the same thing as “nobody would survive”.  He speculates that if mankind were allowed by God, we would actually achieve this “Transhuman” state.

Genesis 11:6 affirms this capability on the part of mankind, which is what necessitated the mixing up of the languages and scattering of the peoples in Genesis 11:7-8.  (And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.  Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech).

From the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24 we can see these things are happening now: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

But how about Daniel 12:4?  But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Here is the projected timeline for these advances in nanotechnology:

That addresses the knowledge, but what about travel?  Is there a potential “increase” of people’s ability to “run to and fro” in our near future?  Well, considering we already have suits that turn our soldiers into super-soldiers, and that can make a handicapped individual capable of walking once again via an ex0-skeleton, it’s not hard to imagine this technology being able to literally enable us to “run to and fro” like the fictional bionic man of the 70’s and 80’s.  (Smarter, stronger faster).   But there are already applications in the works for Space Travel, Auto Industry (with some pretty awesome special effects just for fun as well), Air Travel and Maritime travel and security as well as shipping!

The significance of these things is not only in how it will change daily life, the way we do business, travel, healthcare, and just about every other thing, but that once nanofactories come on the scene to produce all these technologies, production will “explode” exponentially,  and whereas the “industrial revolution” took a couple of centuries, these developments could come about in much less than a decade, conceivably in just a couple of years.  The nanofactory itself will be a fixture of the average household just as is the PC, tablet, cell phone, etc.   We will be able to “manufacture” many things all on our own, using just the basic organic materials found in air and dirt!  And yes, it will also have an impact in the area of food and agriculture!  Now, it’s not the same as that “lab-grown meat” we’ve been hearing about, but I’m sure once they have perfected both processes, a future nanofactory for the production of manufactured meat won’t be far behind.  Yum.  Can’t wait.

Conveniently enough, all of this technology ties in beautifully with the “green movement” and push to reduce our “carbon footprint”.  Just one more piece of the jigsaw puzzle of how the One World Government will control everyone.  Just imagine, a financial collapse/global reset of currency and economy, a period of war and unrest, followed by a fairly frightening, but somewhat orderly re-organization of governmental power into the “ten kingdoms”, and all the mayhem and chaos will increase the need for better, cheaper solutions in medicine, travel, building, logistics, etc.  All this technology is in the wings, just about ready to be implemented, some of it having already been put into use, and all it takes to get that much -needed nanofactory with which to rebuild your house, feed your family, get medical care, oh and pay your carbon tax, is that mark on your right hand or forehead.  Somewhere in there, all the Christians disappear.  Is there any question that in the midst of such unprecedented upheaval, change, revolution and “evolution” that people will be more than happy to embrace a world leader promising peace and prosperity to all? (All of this and more can be yours for just the “small price” of selling your soul to Satan and taking the mark!)  A “New Age” indeed!

  1. it’s like the tower of Babel all over again…..I think this is one reason why God forbid Adam and Eve from eating from the tree of knowledge…look what man has been doing with knowledge?
