Significance of China in the Last Days Prophetic scenario

Seized Chinese Weapons Raise Concerns on Iran

An Iranian dhow seized off the Yemeni coast was carrying sophisticated Chinese antiaircraft missiles, a development that could signal an escalation of Iran’s support to its Middle Eastern proxies, alarming other countries in the region and renewing a diplomatic challenge to the United States.

Among the items aboard the dhow, according to a review of factory markings on weapons and their packing crates, were 10 Chinese heat-seeking antiaircraft missiles, most of them manufactured in 2005.  Read the Rest at NYTimes~~~~~~~~~~~

“Then the sixth angel (not accompanied by trumpet) poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the East might be prepared.” (Rev 16:12)(Bowl judgments under 7th trumpet, 6th vial/bowl)

Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. Rev. 9:16 (Trumpet Judgments, sixth trumpet)

Up until WWII, this statement about the Kings from the East did not make sense.  However, the Japanese invasion during WWII allowed communism, backed heavily by the USSR, to gain it’s foothold in China.  After many centuries of European interference, and the corruption of Kuo Min Tang, the people of China welcomed the leadership of Mao Tse Tung (Mao Zedong).  Little did they know how much worse it could get.  China’s army, known as the People’s Liberation Army is now the largest army in the world.  From Wikipedia:

The PLA is the world’s largest military force, with approximately 3 million members, and has the world’s largest (active) standing army, with approximately 2.25 million members. The PLA comprises five main service branches, consisting of the PLA Ground Force, PLA Navy (PLAN), PLA Air Force (PLAAF), Second Artillery Corps (strategic missile force), and the PLA Reserve Force.-Wiki

Also note that after the fall of the USSR, Russia/China relations began to improve.  They share a large common land border, and in 2001 they signed a Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.  China has historically also had pretty decent diplomatic relations with North Korea, that is until of late, as China now has a growing concern, like many other nations, about NoKo’s nuclear weapons program.

Prior to WWII, for centuries, China seemed perfectly content to remain self-contained within its own borders, but once Communism took hold, the Communist’s ambition for world domination blossomed right along with it, and America, it would seem, is China’s main target.  Most of China’s military arms have been purchased from Russia, and anything China doesn’t want or need, they turn around and sell it to oil-rich nations like Iran.  As you probably already know, China owns most of the United States’ debt at this point.   A famous quote attributed to Napoleon says: “When China Awakens, the World Will Tremble”.  I think that China and the world are very near that point now.

Reagan was the last president to really challenge Communism.  Since his day, the U.S. policy has been appeasement, which was not surprising in Bill Clinton’s case, considering the enormous amount of campaign money he received from China.

It is forbidden in China for any church to teach the inerrancy of Scripture, or the Second Coming of Christ.  God had instructed Israel to evangelize East of the Euphrates, but they did not, instead getting mixed up in idols.  Because of this, all of China has suffered for the sins of Israel. But there many coming to Christ in China in this day, despite the persecution, and estimated 60 Billion to date.

So what is China’s role in prophetic events?  Lets look, instead, at what it is not.  China is not in the Ezekiel 38 battle, and they do not account for the 200 million horsemen at the sixth trumpet.  The latter fallacy came about when an article was published in May  21, 1965 in Time Magazine, when the author stated that China was capable of fielding an army of 200 million.  Revelation 9:16 the sixth angels sounds, and it states that 200 million horsemen will go forth and slay 1/3 of men after the 4 angels are loosed at the Euphrates. But those horsemen are demonic and do supernatural things that a human army is not capable of  (this is in the middle of the tribulation), but  in Revelation 16:12 we have the sixth angel pouring out his bowl and the Euphrates dries up in preparation of the Kings of the East. Rev. 16:12 is at the end of the tribulation.  China’s role will be among these Kings of the East who march against Christ Himself at the battle of Armageddon. (See Revelation chapters 16 and 19)  China is the land of the dragon, and many in that culture even refer to themselves as “descendants of the dragon”.   A true enemy of Christ!  But there is clear indication, even in the characters which make up their language, that they once acknowleged God.  Note this interesting quote from AccordingToProphecy.org:

Some Bible teachers suggest that “the Sinite” referred to in Genesis 10:17 and again in the prophecy of Isaiah 49:12 is where the “land of Sinim” is located. These “Sinites” along with other peoples evidently settled in the east in what we know today as China, after God scattered them from the Tower of Babel, and became isolated from the rest of the world.

There is little doubt that those earliest settlers carried with them after the great flood the stories of creation and the one true God. One of the things early missionaries to China pointed out is the truth of God in the Chinese pictographic language. My brother-in-law was a missionary to Taiwan for over twenty years and shared with me that the Chinese name for God is “ShangT,” which is made up of two pictographic symbols, “above” (or heavenly) and “emperor.” The Chinese name for God is Heavenly Emperor. Ina country that worships many gods it is interesting that the earliest of Chinese characters (going back as some suggest, 4,500 years ago) means they recognized one that is above all emperors, or gods, as the “Heavenly Emperor.”-Tim LaHaye
