Last of a dying breed

Rare bird last seen in Britain 22 years ago reappears – only to be killed by wind turbine in front of a horrified crowd of birdwatchers

  • The white-throated needletail is usually only seen in Asia and Australasia
  • Forty birdwatchers dashed to the Hebrides to catch a glimpse of this one
  • But as they watched it was knocked ‘stone dead’ after impact with turbine

“This is so sad”.  Yes, that is what I said after I stopped laughing.  I mean…..I’m sorry, but the irony is just too rich.  I mean no disrespect to the bird, it’s the environmentalists……okay, I admit it, I do have a sick sense of humor.  Visual comedy and organic slapstick just circumvent my filters and go straight to my funny-bone without regard for propriety.
