Militant Homosexual Activists are not interested in equal rights, but rather superior rights that trump your right to religious freedom

From Matt Stavor, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, in today’s bulletin:

When the Supreme Court announces its decision on marriage next month, it will affect much more than whether a state can define marriage as being between one man and one woman. An adverse ruling will infringe on the First Amendment rights of federal, state, and local workers who never before had to choose between doing their jobs or exercising their religious rights. They also may face suspension, termination, or even criminal prosecution.

The battle lines have been drawn in North Carolina and several other states.

On Thursday, Liberty Counsel’s Legal Team was in court to defend North Carolina magistrates who are being forced to officiate same-sex “weddings” despite deeply held religious beliefs.

Our clients must choose to abandon their religion or face suspension, termination, fines, or prosecution.
Liberty Counsel’s lawsuit points out, “While the federal court orders require that Defendants make marriage licenses and marriage ceremonies available to same-sex couples, they do not require that every magistrate in the state be compelled to perform such ceremonies under threat of suspension, termination or even criminal prosecution”Any number of accommodations can be made for magistrates who object to issuing marriage licenses for a same-sex union.

Liberty Counsel petitioned the state court for emergency protection for any magistrate who refuses to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple.
Militant homosexual activists do not want equal rights; they want superior rights, where their rights to same-sex weddings trump the constitutional rights of Christian magistrates and business owners. The North Carolina Constitution provides: “All persons have a natural and inalienable right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences, and no human authority shall, in any case whatever, control or interfere with the rights of conscience.”

This case reveals the conflicts erupting across the United States as intolerant activists impose their will on the majority of Americans who refuse to participate in same-sex unions.

The same-sex marriage agenda threatens religious liberty and freedom of conscience. Although it is full of rhetoric about tolerance and equal rights, the agenda is anything but tolerant.

Christians and people of faith and values have been silenced through ‘hate speech’ laws. Now, magistrates, pastors, bakers, photographers, business owners, event planners, and others are being forced against their will to celebrate and assist in something against their deeply held religious beliefs.

The following story seems the perfect exemplification of the assertion that the most militant of the homosexual agenda is not interested in having “equal” rights, but rather wish to force others to surrender their own rights and force them to affirm the homosexual lifestyle, thereby renouncing their own religious convictions.

Such a reaction by this lesbian couple proves that no matter how lovingly and respectfully some homosexual folks are treated, there is no “tolerance” on their part.  And tolerance is not what they are interested in.  They don’t want “equal rights” they want the world to sanction and condone, to celebrate their lifestyle.  The problem with that is, as Christians, we cannot.  It goes against the scriptures that we live by, and pretending otherwise, even if they could convince the whole world to do so, will not change that fact.  God is God, His Word is law.  We can change all the laws of our land, but that won’t make it ok.  And those in the lifestyle can get just as angry with me for saying that as they feel they are entitled to be, but when they face their Maker, He will settle the matter.  They may win their campaign with a vote by the Supreme Court in their favor, and they may succeed in passing legislation that sets laws of men in direct opposition to the laws of God, thus labeling Christians as “outlaws”, and they may cause us to lose jobs and businesses, subject us to fines and prison, but this will only store up more wrath against them when God’s judgment fully falls.  I have much more to fear from God in regards to rebellion and disobedience, than of men and man-made laws that oppose God in rebellion.
