Tragedy and injustice demand a witness

At some point a “slippery slope” turns into a sheer dropoff. Even as we are still trying to wrap our minds around the resurgence of antisemiticism that has washed over the globe like a tsunami in the last 3 years, the fact that middle-schoolers are infested with this irrational, unfounded hatred boggles my mind and crushes my heart.(See link below). The fact teachers and administrators turned a blind eye, is unfathomable. Every day is a new low for America, which tells me God has given America over to a collective Romans 1 mind. I honestly thought that had already happened a few years back, and maybe it did, because God is capable of remembering mercy even in wrath, for the sake of the prayers of even one righteous son or daughter. Either way, our President and VP’s recent comments about Israel, the fact Democratic Socialists have become an established 3rd party, and even a singular incidence of such hatred in middle school children…the handwriting is on the wall. A nation once copiously, immeasurably  blessed because it honored God, will now be equally cursed. We’ve seen it coming, but just like the death of someone eaten up with cancer, to witness it is even more painful than we could ever have imagined. I pray for mercy for the sake of a remnant still honoring God, but a remnant who will soon, if that trumpet doesn’t call us up first, be in the same position of that young Jewish boy. The world has seen this before. There is a blueprint. Anyone familiar with it can see where we’re headed. New generations haven’t been taught the history, or worse, have been intentionally duped into believing it never happened.

Years of sounding the alarm about the hour we are in, wore me down to the point I concluded that anyone to whom it matters, is already aware and informed, the rest are utterly uninterested. People have chosen. A line was drawn before, and the distance between two sides just continues to widen. I’m not talking about politics. The line is God Himself. The deniers/rejectors in blatent rebellion, and the remnant.

We have for the most part, already seen more than we expected to witness, and if the last 5-10 years is any indication, who knows what else we may witness. There may come a point when our only thought will be to grab hold of the hem of our Savior’s garment and hang on. FrankIy, some of us are there already. Yet as long as there is a veneer of normalcy left, people will cling to it. The human capacity for denial is notorious. Some people are still waking up, but it may be too little, too late. I’m a tenacious realist. However we serve a compassionate and gracious God. It’s my understanding young men in particular have increasingly been going to church. Unfortunately we know most pulpits won’t give them any more answers than the secular has to offer, because a lot of believers have sought a church where truth is taught and come up empty. Church orphans.  But some pulpits still preach the word, all of it. God has seen fit that a handful doing that, are broadcast online so their “loaves and fishes” are multiplied for the hungry masses. He makes a way.

Now more than ever, we know this world is not our home and we’re increasingly more thankful for that fact every day, and a cry goes up, swelling with more voices all over the world, of “come, Lord Jesus”. Meanwhile, the number of Jews now appealing to God, is also growing. It will all unfold just as was written.

Hold on. Watch. Pray. Be ready with the gospel. Read the Book. Each morning we ask Him to prepare us for what the day holds in store, for whatever lies ahead. We all need to pray for our brothers and sisters all over the world, for each other. If we’re still here tomorrow: repeat and hang on. Praise Him. He inhabits the praises of His people. We can rejoice in Him even in the midst of sorrow. We have a wonderful eternal future to look forward to, and our God is faithful and He knows our frame. He never asks us to endure a trial without a way out the other side. Yes, it is undoubtedly getting darker, but joy comes in the morning. These scripture promises can easily become cliché if we let them, unappreciated like a badly tarnished silver coin, so easily dismissed. Those promises saturate scripture and they are the ground we stand on. In Christ.
