I shared a sermon by Irish Pastor Gary McGibbon a couple days ago. He said “the strategy of the enemy is to make us so weary that we begin to seek comfort.”
That hit home. I have definitely succombed to that at times. I think we all have, even ole Elijah. I don’t think we have the luxury of that anymore, though. Everybody I know, who is at all trying to live right, before the Lord, seems to be enduring one trial after another, or many hard or troubling circumstances at once.
Psalm 119:83 says “For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.”
In the days of the psalmist, wineskins had to go through a curing process. They became blackened and burnt. But the purpose of the process was preservation.
What we endure often may seem in the moment, sensless, but will serve us well at some future date. It’s training. We must remember His statutes. Bible principles. Remember, it is HE who bagan a good work in you. It will be Him who will also faithfully complete that work. He’s doing something in us. That’s a good thing!
God is still on His throne. He is working out His plan.

Amen!!!!
