What is the difference between a hedgehog and a porcupine?

This video shows a porcupine.  I love his little voice.  He practically talks!

Hedgehogs and Porcupines are not the same thing.

They are both nocturnal rodents, and both have quills for protection, and there are several species of each.  Porcupines, which are mostly herbivores range on average from 15 inches and 2 pounds of weight, to 36 inches and 77 pounds of weight.

Hedgehogs are insectivores, like moles and shrews, and they average between 4 inches and 2 ounces of weight, to 12 inches and 56 ounces of weight.  Hedgehogs also have shorter, more tightly packed quills.   Interestingly, the geographical ranges of porcupines and hedgehogs rarely overlap!
